Operation Blackhawk - Dec. 1, 2013

Operation Blackhawk claims to be "Australia’s most realistic Military themed mud run obstacle assault course."  Basically, it was 7km of burning muscles, scraped knees, and MUD!  Now, I've never run 7km in my life, but luckily we were doing a 30 day squat challenge to get ready for our trip to New Zealand 2 weeks later, so we were slightly more in shape than usual.  This is also something I never would have done if it hadn't been for my friend Zoe, who was in way better shape than me and much more adventurous.  (She tried to get us to go to some glow-stick, rave marathon earlier, but we were luckily already busy!)

So the day before we headed down to her friend's cottage in Kadina, SA sto spend the night before the event.  Pictures tell this story much better than words, but when we arrived we were given wet military uniforms and trays of face paint  to put on, then we were given our screaming military briefing by Sergeant Dan.  I carried my waterproof camera in a ziplock bag in my front pocket, so luckily we got some awesome pictures throughout.

Bad ass!  I had also just gotten my hair cut, so it was perfect for this.  And yes...Ryan's uniform says Lynn.

Us with our ring-leader Zoe.

Overview of part of the course.

Watching another group go over an obstacle.

One of the first obstacles.  That hill was sooooo slippery!  This is Ryan trying to grab Zoe's hand to help her up.  Clearly I'm not being much help as the photographer.

The funniest part about this picture is that Ryan didn't recognize himself!  (Then my parents made him a t-shirt with this picture on it)  He did a great job helping us all over the wall though.  My hero!

I made it over!

Ryan had to help lift me out of the bucket, then thought he might as well just carry me to put me in the next one.

THANK GOODNESS IT'S OVER!!!!
